There are many options for self-employed in Texas. I work for Insurance Advisors. We specialize in hard to insure clients. We can insure just about anyone in Texas. Sometimes if an applicant has certain health conditions they will be required to pay a rated premium that is higher than standard but the policy will then cover pr-existing conditions if an insured is paying a rated premium. We have Texas Health Insurance Companies and Las Vegas Health Insurance Companies that will underwrite just about any risk. The days of not being able to get great insurance just because you are self-employed are over. You can go to or Call us direct at 409-283-3393 We will be happy to help you if you reside anywhere in the state of Texas or Nevada.

Best case scenario – yes, you’ll have to pay more. Worst case – no one will want to take you, especially if you’re very overweight.

In which case, you’ll have to get your policy through the Texas health high risk pool .

You’ll still have to pay a WAY LOT. It has DEDUCTIBLES. The rate is about 2X regular health insurance. And there’s a cap on how much can be paid out.

But it’s better than nothing, if your agent can’t find you a private policy. It’s NOT going to be cheaper than a private policy, but it’s AVAILABLE, if no one will give you a private policy.
