I found out today that grandma has really high blood pressure.
168/70
what’s normal?
how serious is it and what could happen to her if she doesn’t lower it soon?

The top number should not be that high, but depends on your age, weight, etc. Call and ask your doc if you should come in for a checkup.

normal blood pressure is about 115/75 or 120/80 depending on how you ask. High blood pressure causes all sorts of problems because it causes stress on the blood vessels and the heart

The term for high blood pressure is hypertension and it sounds like your gramma has something called isolated systolic hypertension. Her systolic number is high(the top number),but her diastolic(bottom number) is still in the normal range.
The normal range is below 140 systolic. If she doesn’t get help lowering her blood pressure, she has an increased risk for stroke, heart disease, kidney disease and dementia.I’m sure her doctor’s will be looking after her well though, the right medication will help lower her blood pressure and she will be fine

The top number is high, the bottom number is normal. It doesn’t seem high enough to be an immediate threat, and I think that the bottom number is more important. I’m assuming that she is being treated by a doctor who put her on medication, which should be able to control it.
