How can I lower high blood pressure when pregnant?

Emerald asked:

I think I might be pregnant with my 3rd child. I am 5’7 and weigh 138 pounds so I’m not overweight but I am concerned because I do know that I have high blood pressure and I don’t want it to get worse during pregnancy.

………What can I do to lower my blood pressure?

you can walk, stay away from salty foods, exercise, drink lots of water, but if you become pregnant or are pregnant there isn’t much you can really do, if you already have high blood pressure chances are it will be high during pregnancy too. the doctor might be able to give you meds to help out, but you will probably have preclamsia either way, but it isn’t like it was your fault.

You really need to be sure your doctor is aware of the high blood pressure problem because it is a serious issue during pregnancy. The suggestions the other answer made were good ones – avoid salt – especially fast food, exercise and stay hydrated.

    Good luck!

My wife and i have two kids she had really high blood pressure. We found out that once you do the normal things the doctor says and avoid all the salt, the thing that worked most was Garlic. We made a tea outof garlic. This might sound gross but we found this really worked. Use two pegs of crushed garlic to one cup of hot water, you can even use sugar to sweeten.
    Best of luck

Hi, I also have high blood pressure and blood suger 8wks pregnant with second child. All u can do is take your meds and do everything the doc tells you to do. My first son was born full term at 38wks 8lbs and 6oz very healthy and at 21/2 still is very healthy. Just do as the doc tells you everything will be fine.
