Alcohol and prescribed medication for anxiety and high blood pressure?
ron asked:
i drank a lot on Saturday night, more than i have in years. I don not remember the second part of the night(very stupid, i no!) I have had a hangover ever since. I am taking medicine for my high blood pressure and anxiety. I take Atenolol, Attacand, Amlodipine Bensylate, and Citalopram(sorry for SP). I have had a headache and slight stomach ache since Sunday. I no I shouldn’t mix medicine with alcohol, and i regret that i did.

I have two questions
1. Can the medications mixed with alcohol, cause typical hangover symptoms to linger around for long periods of time ?
2. Can the alcohol and medication mix increase the severity on the symptoms?
I would really appreciate some advice, Thanks

You must take care and never, but never mix alcohol with drugs, alcohol gets you high pressure and anxiety medicine makes your hangover stronger, I do not think you need more than some rest, but if you feel really bad better go get proffesional advise

Yes to both. You are seriously taking unnecessary risks with your health and life by mixing drugs and alcohol. Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Anna Nicole Smith, ad nauseum should have sent messages to the world that this is a dangerous game you play with your self.
Don’t do it any more. Alcohol in moderation, if you must. One or two drinks at most.
Drink lots of water to flush your body. It helps. Eat properly. Well balanced meals. Take a multi-vitamin every day, too.
If you were in a big crowd Saturday, you may have caught a bug that is getting to you now, too. Go easy on any spicy or heavy foods for a few more days, and lay off coffee and soda products., They are dehydrating and will compound the hangover effects and stomach irritation.
Continue your pill regimine as prescribed.
Be clean and sober and well
